1. Summary
TradeYard uses information to run the marketplace, show listings, support buyer and seller communication, protect users from spam or abuse, and improve the website.
TradeYard does not process item payments or hold escrow in the current MVP. Buyers and sellers arrange payment, pickup, delivery, inspection, and final transaction terms directly.
This website policy is a practical template for the current MVP and should be reviewed before a larger public launch, paid advertising campaign, or major user onboarding.
2. Information we may collect
- Account information: name, email, password hash, account settings, seller profile, store profile, and verification status when available.
- Listing information: title, description, photos, category, price, auction settings, service area, location, condition, and seller details.
- Messages and support: messages users send through TradeYard, listing questions, reports, support requests, screenshots, and related context.
- Location information: selected city, province, Canada-wide search settings, nearby search area, and approximate location when a user chooses location-based features.
- Technical information: IP address, browser/device data, log files, security events, cookie/local-storage preferences, and diagnostic data.
- Analytics information: site usage data collected through Google Analytics only after analytics cookies are accepted.
3. How we use information
- To create and manage accounts, listings, seller stores, auctions, bids, messages, reviews, and marketplace features.
- To display search results, location-based listings, categories, filters, and seller pages.
- To send important account, listing, support, security, moderation, and service messages.
- To detect spam, fraud, fake listings, prohibited content, abuse, and suspicious activity.
- To measure traffic and improve performance, usability, search, and marketplace quality.
- To meet legal, accounting, security, and operational requirements when applicable.
4. How information may be shared
- Public listing and seller/store information may be visible to other users and search engines.
- Messages may be visible to the sender, recipient, and TradeYard support/moderation when needed for support, safety, abuse review, or dispute context.
- Service providers such as hosting, database, email, analytics, security, and infrastructure tools may process information for TradeYard operations.
- TradeYard may disclose information when required for legal, fraud-prevention, security, safety, or compliance reasons.
TradeYard does not sell user conversations or listing data to advertisers.
5. Cookies and analytics
TradeYard may use essential cookies or local storage for basic website functions such as preferences, session-related features, and security.
Analytics cookies are optional. Google Analytics is loaded only after a user accepts analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Users can decline analytics cookies and continue using the website.
Users can clear browser cookies or local storage to reset cookie preferences.
