TradeYard rules

These rules explain how TradeYard works for auctions, fixed-price listings, services, seller stores, messages, and direct buyer/seller transactions.

Important: TradeYard does not process payments and does not hold funds. Buyers and sellers arrange payment, inspection, pickup, delivery, and final transaction terms directly.

1. General rules

  • TradeYard is a Canadian auction and marketplace platform for connecting buyers, sellers, and service providers.
  • Users must provide accurate listing information and communicate honestly.
  • Users are responsible for checking item condition, price, pickup terms, delivery terms, and payment method before completing a deal.
  • TradeYard may update these rules as the platform develops.

2. Accounts and user responsibility

  • Each user is responsible for their own account activity.
  • Do not share your password or allow another person to use your account for suspicious activity.
  • Do not create duplicate accounts to avoid restrictions, ratings, moderation, or previous account history.
  • Business sellers should use clear seller/store information and should not pretend to be private sellers.

3. Listings and services

  • Listings must have a clear title, accurate description, correct category, location, price or auction terms, and real photos when possible.
  • Do not use misleading photos, fake condition claims, hidden fees, or bait-and-switch pricing.
  • Use multiple photos for items where condition matters. Show defects, damage, wear, model labels, and important accessories.
  • Service listings must describe the service area, schedule, scope, and limitations clearly.

4. Auctions and bidding

  • Bids are placed in Canadian dollars. The system may store amounts internally in cents, but users should see CAD prices.
  • A valid bid must meet or exceed the minimum next bid shown on the listing page.
  • Sellers cannot bid on their own listings.
  • If a valid bid is placed in the final 1 minute, the auction end time is extended by 4 minutes. This anti-snipe rule repeats every time a qualifying late bid is placed.
  • The highest valid bid at the final end time is treated as the winning bid.

5. Payment, pickup, delivery, and inspection

  • TradeYard does not process payments, does not hold deposits, and does not provide escrow in this MVP.
  • Buyers and sellers arrange payment method directly between themselves.
  • Buyers should inspect the item before payment whenever possible.
  • Meet in a safe public place when appropriate. For large items, agree on clear pickup details before the meeting.
  • Shipping, delivery, and return terms should be discussed in messages before completing a deal.

6. Messages, questions, and conduct

  • Use messages to ask about condition, pickup, delivery, payment method, schedule, service details, and listing accuracy.
  • Public questions on a listing should be relevant to the item or service.
  • No spam, threats, harassment, impersonation, or attempts to manipulate ratings.
  • Keep important transaction details in writing so both sides can review them later.

7. Seller stores and promotion balance

  • Seller stores are profile pages for business or frequent sellers.
  • Store information must be accurate and should not mislead buyers about identity, location, inventory, or service area.
  • Promotion balance may be used for boosting or featuring listings when those features are enabled.
  • Promoted listings still must follow all marketplace rules.

8. Prohibited or restricted content

  • No weapons, firearm parts, ammunition, or weapon accessories.
  • No illegal drugs, cannabis/THC/CBD products, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia.
  • No alcohol, nicotine, vaping products, or age-restricted intoxicants.
  • No prescription medication or restricted medical products.
  • No counterfeit goods, stolen property, fraud, identity documents, or illegal services.
  • No adult sexual products, explicit content, or services.
  • No dangerous chemicals, hazardous materials, explosives, or items that require special licensing unless TradeYard later creates a specific approved policy.

9. Moderation and enforcement

  • TradeYard may edit, hide, reject, remove, or suspend listings that break rules or create risk for users.
  • Accounts may be limited or suspended for fraud, spam, unsafe conduct, repeated rule violations, or abuse of the platform.
  • Reports from users may be reviewed by support or moderators.
  • TradeYard may improve moderation rules as the platform grows.
